Walk This Way
The Alameda County Transportation Commission has started funding classes (Walk This Way) that encourage seniors to exercise regularly and walk or use public transit to get to their destinations. Shawn Fong, the program manager for the city of Fremont, says that although the city has a good paratransit program, currently there are few programs that help support mobility for healthier seniors.
My kindergarten students learned so many skills about staying healthy in such an exceptional way that I hope to have Aby and Danielle come back next school year and do their unit again. I also loved watching their creative ways in which the curriculum they designed prepared the children to make good choices and instill healthy habits they can make every day.
Based on my experience with the program, I recommend Movetrition to all organizations that are looking for creative, exemplary, and respectful instructors to deliver an awesome, well designed curriculum about being healthy.
